Kendra & Alex | Onalaska, Wisconsin wedding photographer

There’s a crazy little thing called love…

and last Saturday was full of it in Onalaska, WI. It was quite the gathering at the Onalaska Omni Center as I believe there was 350-400 guests that attended the wedding! From what I understand, I think most were family!! If I overheard correctly, Alex’s father has 17 siblings? Yes, that was SEVENTEEN. Not to mention, that Alex’s 4 siblings & sister-in-law made up 5 of the 6 in the bridal party. Imagine all the love in one room with a gathering of a family of that size and then add in friends – what a way to celebrate a wedding. Having all the closest people in your lives, family & friends, who love you and who are there because of the love you share with one person – whether there’s 4 or 400 or 4000, no matter the number – that’s a beautiful thing to experience.

Speaking of family, I actually had the pleasure to shoot the wedding of Alex’s brother in 2007, where Alex was the best man. This time, the tables were turned and now Alex was the groom and his brother was the best man. It’s always nice to see past clients. (Especially when they are now expecting!! Congrats again!)

So, back to the wedding – I started off with meeting Kendra while she and her bridesmaids was getting ready. She had a beautiful white wedding dress with a bridal sash…

She waited very patiently as the back of her dress was tied to perfection…

As I went back to take some shots of the reception area, I noticed that Alex’s brother was practicing his best man speech… I believe Alex started a small sibling rivalry between best man speeches, so Elliot wanted to make sure he gave him a run for his money!

Tea & scones were a large part of Alex’s proposal to Kendra, so they made sure that it was incorporated into the reception decor…

After taking formal photos of the guys, Alex made sure to help his grandfather with his boutonniere…

After Alex was hidden out of sight from Kendra, it was ladies’ turn for portraits. The number “3” had an important part of the whole day – three colors, three bridesmaids, three groomsmen, three ushers, three seating sections & three aisles because it tied into one of their biblical readings during the ceremony. Here we have the three colors of the bridesmaid’s dresses and their pretty bouquets…

After they were done with their formals, they shared a laugh while walking back into the Omni Center. These moments are great…

Kendra was getting very excited to get married as she waited for the ceremony to begin while her father proudly watched…

As the ceremony began, Alex patiently waited for his queue to enter…

The ceremony was filled with music of a sting quartet and they both spoke their own vows to each other. After the ceremony, we ventured down the road to some different locations for photos. I captured this wonderful moment between the two of them near the Mississippi River – so happy to be with each other…

At the second stop, this old building made perfect spot for everyone in the bridal party…

We then arrived back to the Omni Center and the reception area was filled with so many happy faces. People were finishing up with swing dancing lessons prior to dinner. As dinner started, teacups were ringing for the two of them to kiss…

After some live music and some ice cream served up by the ushers, it was time for the Grand March and their first dance. It started off beautifully…

and then mid-song, they broke out into some swing dancing of their own to Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”…

It was a perfect day for a wedding and I was happy to be a part of this ever growing family once again. Not only growing by numbers but by love as well. I wish you both the best and may your love for each other continue to grow each & every day.
