Melissa & Jason | Winona MN wedding photographer

Emotions are powerful.

Do you remember when you first saw the love of your life? How did you feel? For those of you who are engaged, do you remember the feelings you felt during the proposal? For those of you who are married, do you remember seeing them for the first time on your wedding day? How did it feel? Was it joyful & perhaps a little scary at the same time? Or maybe your emotions were so overwhelming that you find it hard to recall??

Melissa & Jason’s wedding had some of the most purest emotions I’ve been able to document.

With the beautiful weather we had on their wedding day, we decided to do their first sight outside of Central Lutheran Church. Prior to seeing each other for the first time, I had Jason wait outside the church while Melissa was helped by her mother & sister with some final touches…

As Melissa came upstairs, followed by her mother & bridesmaids, Jason anxiously awaited outside. As the door slowly opened, he took a few deep breaths before being able to see his lovely bride for the first time. You can feel their emotions through the next few images…

and then the power of emotions kicked in…

Although a few tears were shed, they didn’t last long and were soon followed by some of the biggest smiles I saw from them the whole day. To take advantage of the gorgeous weather, we moved into some portraits were their love really shined through…

We then brought out the bridal party, as well as their families, to get some outdoor photos with them prior to the ceremony. The beautiful bride and her lovely bridesmaids…

as well as the handsome groom with his groomsmen & ushers…

After we finished up with the formals inside the Church, we waited for the guests to arrive which gave me some time to get a few more shots of Melissa & Jason. This hallway provided some cool lighting so I figured I’d use it to our advantage. Of course, it helps to have two people madly in love too…

Afterwards, Melissa applied some final touches before the wedding ceremony…

The church was filled with family & friends. The ceremony was to begin. The family & bridal party lined up in their order. The emotions struck Melissa again as she walked down the aisle with her father. As she met Jason at the end of the aisle, once again, those tears turned to smiles.

A view of the ceremony…

You can’t tell that these two were happy to be married, can you??

After the ceremony, we made a stop by Lake Winona and the Rose Gardens. Again, the weather was fantastic…

Signatures Restaurant & Visions Event Center was exquisitely decorated…

As the dinner began, a toast by Melissa’s father started the dinner off on the right track…

The speeches by Jason’s good friend and Melissa’s sister provide a few laughs as well…

After dinner, we had a little time to spare, so why not throw in a few portraits? I love it when my clients are open to take a break from the action. It gives us a chance to create some stunning imagery together. It helps me get the creative juices flowing. Granted, a number of variables play a part, from my clients, location we’re at, weather & time of day just to name a few.

From a passionate kiss…

…to a unique pose.

We headed back inside for the start of their wedding dance. Of course it started off with a romantic dance between Melissa & Jason…

Soon after, the bridal party joined in on the fun…

… and bust out some “Hokey Pokey” and you’ll have everyone at the reception out there. From the older crowd to the younger ones to help celebrate and party the night away…

It was a beautiful day and wonderful wedding, Melissa & Jason! Thank you for having me document it for you. I hope these images help you relive every emotion and allow you to remember the love that you both share for each other. Congrats again!!
