Kristin & Jonah | rural Minnesota wedding

At the end of July, I drove south to Hokah, MN for the wedding ceremony of Kristin & Jonah. Jonah & his sister were actually members of a previous bridal party for my past clients Shannon & Jon. One thing about rural weddings, is that the strong bond of family & friends is very apparent. It seems that everybody knows one another and has something or someone they can relate to. While there was a few faces I’ve seen before at a previous wedding or two, the feeling is similar during the wedding day – a celebration of love between two people.

As I arrived, we had originally planned to have Kristin & Jonah see each other beforehand for a “first sight”, however, plans had changed due to some discussion between Kristin and her friends. While it makes no difference to me, I think it’s great to wait until the ceremony, there’s only one time that this moment will happen. So I started with Kristin and her bridesmaids for some portraits and the interior of St. Peter’s Church created a very nice backdrop…

Kristin’s bouquet was lovely…

After photos with the ladies, it was time for Jonah and the groomsmen. Here’s a portrait of him using the other side of the church…

As the last of the guests arrived and were seated in the church, we ventured through the school portion of the church. I know one or two of the bridesmaids attended the elementary school there as they knew their way around. We found this little library and that’s where they had to make sure that the readings were in the correct order…

Before too long, most of the guests were seated and Kristin’s dad had come to get her to walk her down the aisle…

Everyone met outside of the sanctuary to get in order to walk down the aisle for the ceremony…

The processional began and as everyone took their place in front of the church, Kristin’s dad gave her last kiss before handing her over to Jonah…

A few images from the ceremony…

After the ceremony, we headed over to a family farm and a photo was wanted in a corn bin, so we stuffed everyone inside a got a few photos!

As we headed down to Como Falls Park, we made it just in time as an outdoor wedding was finishing up. Perfect timing for some more great shots…

The natural backdrop was a perfect setting as well…

We then headed down to Brownsville to a favorite pub of theirs, Top of the Rock, for a few celebratory beverages. It hit the spot as it was plenty warm outside!

All of these little goodies awaited the bridal party at the Four Seasons Community Center at the wedding reception…

The table decor coordinated well with the bouquet and colors of the wedding…

After supper, we ventured out to take advantage of the beautiful light coming from the southeastern Minnesota sunset (as seen full-screen)…

As we headed back inside, it was time for the dance to begin and a loving first dance it was…

It was a day full of smiles and those closest to you, Kristin & Jonah. May you be able to feel the love you both felt on your beautiful wedding day for many days to come!!
