Maria & Mark – a Norskedalen wedding

If you were able to plan the wedding of your dreams, what would it include? Where would you hold the wedding? What kind of decorations would you use? How would you make the guest’s experience one that they would remember? With the help & planning from Weddings By Nancy, Maria & Mark’s wedding provided this and so much more.

Now don’t get me wrong. A wedding is not just about the details. The most important part of any wedding is the love that two people share. There was no shortage of love between Maria & Mark. The emotion was powerful as they saw each other for the first time. That emotion was evident as the ceremony started. Now combine that love with the love from family & friends. Plenty of happy tears were shared by many present.

One thing that stood out for me was when Maria saw her father for the first time. She had a special gift just for him as well. I had her father wait outside the building where she got ready. The bridesmaids awaited inside the door and watched Maria, with the help of her mother, walk out to see her father. It was a beautiful moment. It’s a moment that I hope to share with my daughter someday. I will most likely be a sobbing mess. In fact, I know I will. My eyes are welling up as I type and think about it… {deep breath}

The weather was absolutely gorgeous. A little on the warm side for awhile, but one could not complain. The ceremony was held in a private area of Norskedalen Nature & Heritage Center where the pines lined the sloped hillside. Live music was performed and Maria’s father sang a song he used to sing to her as a child. After the ceremony, all the guests enjoyed a glass of champagne as Maria’s brother toasted to the newly married couple.

Prior to dinner, there was a cocktail hour complete with hors d’oeuvres, drinks & yard games as live music flowed through the crowd. As dinner was served, the speeches provided plenty of laughter as well as touching moments by siblings and close childhood friends. After dinner, a slideshow was displayed as Maria’s father & two friends provided live background music. Following the slideshow, the dance began and I knew that there would be no shortage of dancing and good times. You see, I first met Maria back in 2009 as I shot her friend’s wedding in La Crosse, WI and just last year, I shot her brother’s wedding in St. Paul, MN. Needless to say, the dance floor was packed and there were plenty of smiles to go around. It was a beautiful ending to a picture perfect wedding day.
