Smiling dog

As a photographer, it’s great when variables just work for the best and my past engagement session was no different. While our last planned engagement session was rained/sleeted out, our backup date was absolutely perfect autumn weather. Top that off with a fun-loving couple who love the outdoors and their beautiful Golden Retriever, Lutsen. He was a happy, smiling dog.

Looking forward to the wedding next year!

Morgan – autumn high school senior portrait

One of the great things about living in the upper Midwest is the change of the seasons. The leaves that are still on the trees have a nice tone to them, however they won’t last much longer. Here’s a recent senior portrait – Morgan.

addition to the family portrait…

I had the amazing opportunity to cover a private ceremony welcoming my past wedding client’s newborn daughter, not only to the world but to the family, held at their family’s property in rural southeast Minnesota. There was a calming fog overlaying the land that morning. It was a beautiful location for some family portraits. Continue reading for more images

Pickle Dropper – B17 Bomber

I was commissioned to retouch this WWII image of the Air Corps Bomber Group of the Boeing B-17 Bomber “Pickle Dropper”. The image was originally taken on February 14, 1944 in England. My client had an original 4×5 print that I scanned in at a high resolution. The image will be enlarged, printed as a 11×14 and gifted to his father-in-law (who is in the image) along with a handmade replica of the plane.

I learned through some research that a few months later, the plane crashed in the English Channel and the crew (not the same as those pictured) were never found and are on the Wall of the Missing in the Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial in Belgium.

I thank all past, present & future soldiers and their families for the sacrifices they endured to keep all of our families safe.

a hairstyling competition

Since April, I’ve been busy shooting models for a nationwide hairstyling competition for a local Fantastic Sams. There were a number of different categories of which the stylists could enter from regular haircuts & styling to coloring to an avant-garde category in which the stylists had no creative boundaries to what they could do.

It was fun to see all the different hairstyles and all of the models looked great!

Mid West Music Fest 2012 – Winona, MN

Here’s a few images from Mid West Music Fest 2012 which takes place in downtown Winona, Minnesota. General B & The Wiz performed at Jefferson’s Riverside Event Center while Greg “Cheech” Hall (of the White Iron Band) with special guest Sena Ehrhardt performed at the Acoustic Cafe.

The following day, a number of different bands played at Eds (No Name) Bar. Beet Root Stew opened up the afternoon on the outdoor stage. Nicholas David Mrozinski & the Feelin Band played a great show. Charlie Parr closed out the evening to a full tent.
