Mid West Music Fest – Day 3

The sun was shining on the third and last day of Mid West Music Fest and everyone was out and about early with the Earth Day celebration at Levee Park. While the breeze still had a slight chill to it, you couldn’t help but enjoy the heat as the sun kissed everyone in attendance. Later in the evening, downtown Winona was packed with what seemed like twice as many people as previous nights, but I imagine the pub crawl at non-MWMF establishments had something to do with that. A new favorite band, The Fattenin’ Frogs, had Eds (no name) Bar hopping to their music and the amazing vocals of Amanda White. Overall, it was a perfect ending to possibly the best Mid West Music Fest yet.

List of musicians and the venue:

  1. Jake Ilika & The Heavy Set – Winona Levee Park
  2. The Zinghoppers – Winona Levee Park
  3. Savannah Smith – Broken World Records
  4. Swallows – Eds (no name) Bar
  5. Reina del Cid & the Cidizens – Broken World Records
  6. Eli Glor – Broken World Records
  7. Cannons North – Eds (no name) Bar
  8. The Fattenin’ Frogs – Eds (no name) Bar

Keep an eye on Mid West Music Fest 2014 as it’s scheduled for April 24-26, 2014.

Mid West Music Fest 2013 – Day 2

Day two of the Mid West Music Fest provided nearly every weather element possible, but that didn’t stop many festival goers from hitting the streets and see some of their favorite musical acts. Things that stood out for me: Eds (no name) Bar had its second-annual block party and although the music was moved indoors, they were already at capacity at 7:30 for Caroline Smith & The Goodnight Sleeps. Later that night, Chastity Brown wowed the crowd with her soulful voice. The People Brothers Band got the crowd movin’ & shakin’ like a primer for Apollo Cobra at Jefferson’s Event Center, which was nearly at capacity by the end of the night.

List of musicians and the venue:

  1. Tour FunkEds (no name) Bar
  2. The May NorthEds (no name) Bar

The following day, a number of different bands played at Eds (No Name) Bar. Beet Root Stew opened up the afternoon on the outdoor stage. Nicholas David Mrozinski & the Feelin Band played a great show. Charlie Parr closed out the evening to a full tent.

October 2009 Family Portrait Special

Family Portrait Month

I thought you would want to know about a very special family portrait promotion we will be participating in with an elite group of photographers around the country.  This October, we will celebrate “Family Portrait Month,” a wonderful opportunity for you to update your family portrait (or portraits of your children), and support Operation Smile, which treats children around the world who suffer with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.

Along with other studio members of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), we have pledged to contribute $25 of your session to PPA Charities, which has chosen Operation Smile as its charitable partner.

What’s more, we want you to benefit from this special offer:

15-20 minute studio session on white background (indoor only – perfect for those holiday cards) and your four session options consist of the following:

#1 – $50 & buy prints separately through online ordering gallery
#2 – $100 & get $50 print/product credit through online ordering gallery
#3 – $150 & get disc w/personal use release (allowing you to print your own)
#4 – $250 – disc w/personal use release & a 16×24 canvas (canvas alone is a $259 value)

Recording the faces of children and their families is our greatest pleasure. That’s why we believe so strongly in the work of Operation Smile. Each year this incredible organization of volunteer doctors, nurses, dentists, and specialized health care professionals, performs free reconstructive surgeries for children suffering with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities. More than 100,000 children are born with a facial deformity each year in Operation Smile’s partner countries.

We hope you will join with us in helping to make this vital work possible. Don’t forget that the holiday season is right around the corner, so there’s no better time for a family portrait, which is always appreciated as a gift for family and friends (and to send along with holiday greeting cards).

As always . . . we look forward to creating some truly wonderful portraits of your family.

With warm wishes,

Minnesota Marine Art Museum prom photos in Winona, MN

April 26th, 2008 – I photographed some high school kids who were going to prom together at the new Minnesota Marine Art Museum in Winona, MN. I photographed senior portraits for one of the girls last summer, so she looked me up to take a few shots of her and her friends before their senior prom.

They were dressed so nice and added a little fun by wearing funky, colorful shoes! Here’s some photos from the shoot.

We headed outside and braved the chilly winds, but it was fun! I like their expressions on this one – just having a good time with friends!
