Minneapolis-St. Paul-Twin Cities wedding photography

Bride-to-be: “Do you ever travel for weddings?

Me: “Yes!”

Bride-to-be: “What about the Twin Cities?”

Me: “Absolutely! Travel to the Twin Cities is included!”

I get asked that a lot by a number of brides & grooms when they search for their wedding photographer. Even though I may shoot a lot of weddings in and around Winona, MN & La Crosse, WI – I do travel to and around Minneapolis/St. Paul to provide my wedding photographer services.

Yes, I know that there is a large number of very talented wedding photographers in the Twin Cities, but just a reminder that I do travel to shoot there too!

Jill & Justin | Twin Cities wedding photography

For my last wedding of 2009, it was a full day of wedding coverage. From the salon in Woodbury, to a straight blade shave in downtown St. Paul, to the wedding in Buffalo and the reception in Maple Grove. Not to mention that it was a beautiful November day with temps in the mid-sixties. Wonderful friends & family to share the day with. Everything seemed to work out perfectly for Jill & Justin’s wedding.

I started at Salon Ultimo in Woodbury to get photos of Jill & her bridesmaids getting their hair & makeup. It is truly a process to see a woman become a bride on her wedding day. Such intricate little details. These details can take time. In all, it is all worthwhile for one of the biggest moments of one’s life.

Michaela & Tim | Minneapolis, Minnesota wedding photographer

On August 7th, I traveled to the Twin Cities for the wedding of Michaela & Tim at the Semple Mansion in Minneapolis, MN. The weather wasn’t looking the greatest when I left town, but once I got halfway there, around Red Wing, the skies started to clear up. That’s always a good sign! What’s even better is that these two are young lovebirds. When I shot their engagement pictures in downtown St. Paul (in sub-freezing temps mind you) I could totally see this quality between them. Their love is their bond and you can see this in their photos… Continue reading for more on this Semple Mansion wedding in Minneapolis, MN

Minneapolis high school senior portrait – 4.30

I had the pleasure of shooting some senior portraits in and around downtown Minneapolis with a great young lady. It was a perfect, Minnesota day in the spring. This portrait session was great for a number of reasons:

  • beautiful young lady, very stylish, who was comfortable in front of the camera
  • she had an awesome wardrobe
  • she was looking for original, one of kind photos
  • Minneapolis is full of unique locations
  • the weather was perfect, with a slight breeze

But enough of me, rambling – again… on to some photos! All photos posted are SOOC.

The first location was a grungy railroad tressel. It was sweet! The contrast was awesome!

The sun made for the best lighting too…

We went down by 1st Avenue & Hennepin in downtown Minneapolis after an outfit change and took some really cool shots by a really cool wall and old alley. Check em out!

Before we left though, I had an idea. See if you like it…

Then back to the her condo for the last outfit change and up to the rooftop. Check out the view of Minneapolis! Again, another contrast – between her & her flowing dress and the sharp angles & brick buildings.

and to finish off the shoot, there was this wall that provided a nice matching color, along with contrast, texture and of course, the senior.

I definitely hope to do more senior portrait photography in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. I look forward to it!
