And now on to the party! The last half of Kristin & Jason’s wedding was the celebration. A celebration it was!! Seriously, if every reception had the vibe as their’s, you could charge admission. Seriously! They had no shortage of fun!
Before heading to the reception, we made a quick stop at Animal House, for a quick drink with the wedding party. Since they are fairly recent owners of a Harley-Davidson, it was sheer coincidence that these Harleys were outside. A fitting but perfect photo op!
All weddings are different – that’s a fact. From the couple being married, the dress, the suits, to the wedding venues and right on down to the food served.
It is your wedding. Make it spectacular in every way.
When you plan/planned your wedding, how did you decide the decor or theme of the wedding day? Did you have help or did you do it yourself?
When it comes to planning a wedding, a large part does come down to the details. As they say, “It’s all about the details”. If you’re looking to make a statement with your wedding and provide a beautiful atmosphere for your guests at your wedding or perhaps you just need a professional opinion, I suggest looking up Nancy Flottmeyer, Weddings by Nancy, in La Crosse, WI.
I recently had a client who used Weddings by Nancy for the management of their wedding day & wedding reception design and it was truly a remarkable thing to see. The reception was held at the Stony Creek Inn and while I’ve shot a number of receptions there, it’s never looked this good…

The partybooth was a rocking during Kristin & Jason’s wedding reception! I don’t think there was a face that wasn’t smiling – such a great group of people to help them celebrate…

There’s a crazy little thing called love…
and last Saturday was full of it in Onalaska, WI. It was quite the gathering at the Onalaska Omni Center as I believe there was 350-400 guests that attended the wedding! From what I understand, I think most were family!! If I overheard correctly, Alex’s father has 17 siblings? Yes, that was SEVENTEEN. Not to mention, that Alex’s 4 siblings & sister-in-law made up 5 of the 6 in the bridal party. Imagine all the love in one room with a gathering of a family of that size and then add in friends – what a way to celebrate a wedding. Having all the closest people in your lives, family & friends, who love you and who are there because of the love you share with one person – whether there’s 4 or 400 or 4000, no matter the number – that’s a beautiful thing to experience.
After sunny 90 degree temperatures on Friday, clouds & cooler temps moved in for last Saturday’s wedding in La Crosse, WI. There was also very good chances for rain. However, even with the colder air and rain, everything just seemed to work perfectly for Betsy and Matt’s wedding.
It seemed that every time we wanted to go outside for pictures, it either stopped raining or was just the slightest drizzle. During the ceremony, it rained. Afterwards, it stopped. Then as we drove to Traditions Restaurant for some photos, it rained pretty hard. Once we got there, it stopped. We drove to the La Crosse Country Club, it rained. Again, once we got there, it stopped. Then after we went inside for dinner, it rained again. Everything just fell into place for them on their wedding day.
Not to mention that on Friday night, there was a fire in the building connected to the store that held Matt’s tux and it just ended up with a little smoke smell that an early morning dry cleaning took care of. Read more about this La Crosse Wisconsin wedding
A quick picture from last Saturday’s wedding…
After the wedding ceremony at First Congregational Church in La Crosse, WI – we stopped at Traditions Restaurant in Onalaska, WI for a few photos and then arrived at the La Crosse Country Club for the wedding reception. Here’s a photo I captured before we entered the clubhouse…

I’ll be adding a post and more photos about the wedding later, so be sure to check back soon!
Let me start this post about last weekend’s wedding by saying…
Thank you to all of the brave Americans who serve our country in the United States Armed Forces. From the newly enlisted, to active duty, currently deployed, to the veterans and to the fallen – I thank you for your service and for protecting the freedoms our wonderful country provides us.
If you haven’t thanked a member of the military lately, next time you see one – do so.
As a wedding photographer, I really strive to document the wedding day as it unfolds. At the same time, as a visual artist, I am always looking for unique situations and locations to create the imagery you see on my website. Having clients who understand this, who allow me to have the creative freedom to do what I do, is everything a photographer can ask for. Last Saturday’s wedding of Abby & Luke provided those things and so much more. To list off a few of the reasons:
Luke is member of the United States Army and a veteran of the Iraq War. He dressed in the US Army dress blue uniform for the wedding ceremony. It was nice to see a groom, not only proud of his service to our country by wearing his proper military attire, but to be in love at the same time. It was sort of an interesting attraction visual opposites. You’ve got the rough, rugged & strong image of an army soldier paired with a beautiful, delicate & ornate image of the bride…

After shooting Luke and his groomsmen & Abby and her bridesmaids separately – it was time for the ceremony at St. Patrick’s Parish in Onalaska, Wisconsin.
Just wanted to post a couple pictures from yesterday’s wedding in La Crosse, Wisconsin. These are just a small sampling of the images that you’ll see! More to come within the next day or two!!
