The first wedding of my double-header wedding weekend two weeks ago was in La Crosse, WI at Pettibone Resort. Not only was there a marriage happening, but there was a family being formed. You see on Mother’s Day, Jordan proposed to Amber while they were on a walk in the woods with Amber’s 4 year old daughter. He not only asked her to be his wife – he also turned to Amber’s daughter and asked her if he could marry her mommy. That’s beautiful. Equally beautiful, they now share another daughter together – cute as can be at 8 months old. So not only was I shooting a wedding, but I was witness to a family of four become one. August 15th, 2008 – I headed downriver again to La Crosse, WI for Friday’s wedding at the Roncalli Newman Center on the UW-La Crosse campus. It really was a great day to get outside and take some outdoor pictures too. The weather was “picture perfect”.
Jessica & Dave chose not to see each other prior to the wedding ceremony so I started with Jessica and her bridesmaids first. We had to keep it short outside as Dave was to show up any minute. Here’s a nice black & white portrait of the ladies in front of the Roncalli Newman Center…

After about an hour of photos, Jessica had to go downstairs to hide as I was going to finish up portraits with Dave & his groomsmen before the ceremony started. Here’s an enhanced, fun photo of the guys taken in the alley…

After finishing up with pictures, Dave waited for the start of the ceremony in a separate room near the sanctuary . Jessica and her bridesmaids waited & added last-minute finishing touches downstairs until it was time for the wedding to begin. Here’s a glimpse of Jessica coming upstairs as the bridal party looks on in this black & white photo…

As the wedding ceremony began, there was a few tears shed but lots of happiness as well. The officiant had their full attention during the ceremony…

The blessing & exchanging of the rings…

After the wedding ceremony, they snuck away and were all smiles as they headed downstairs…

After formal family & bridal pictures, we headed across the street to the UW-La Crosse campus to take some photos near the location where they first met. I think it’s really special to incorporate those little things with my client’s photos. Sometimes what seems insignificant to one, can be very significant to another. On the way back, we got a nice shot with the ceremony site in the background…

We then headed through La Crosse to make a few more stops at different locations for some unique wedding photos before heading to Pettibone Resort for their reception…

After the dinner, toasts, speeches, some more outdoor portraits and a few family shots – it was time for the dance to begin. They started with the father/daughter & mother/son dance which led into Jessica & Dave’s first dance together as husband & wife. It was very nice moment for them…

All in all, it was a great wedding to be apart of. I thank you both, Jessica & Dave, for having me share your wedding with you as your wedding photographer. I hope you both are enjoying the nice, sandy beaches of Florida as I type this!! Congrats again & I wish you the best!
