Megan & Nick | Town & Country Club wedding in St. Paul, Minnesota

There was so many wonderful things going on once the autumn season finally settled in here in our area. The weather was outstanding and made for some great colors & views of the trees & leaves along rolling bluffs along the Mississippi River. I personally think it would be hard to leave the area, even though I usually can’t stand the winter months. Snow & cold temps just are not for me…

As one’s life progresses, you get a little older, find a college to attend, maybe find a job, move from home, you figure out the true friends (or a linchpin) in your life and meet new ones, finish school, then find a career, perhaps you meet that special someone and a new adventure begins. Sometimes that new adventure will take you to new places. Away from home. That’s what brings me to Megan & Nick. Continue reading and to see their wedding photos

Chad & Alex | Jewish commitment ceremony in St. Paul, Minnesota

Everyone is entitled to love and be loved.

Without love, the world can be and is a lonely place.

For Chad & Alex, it may not have been the easiest road for them to plan their wedding. From hiring a florist or finding a venue, even just being in their own relationship – it wasn’t easy. You see, Chad & Alex are gay. However, with the help & love of the people close to them, they were able to plan their wedding. Although the state of Minnesota does not legally recognize the marriage, their Jewish faith does.

And that was very important to them both.

Their wedding was the first same-sex commitment ceremony held inside of a Conservative Jewish synagogue in Minnesota. With the help of their Rabbi, who took all of the correct steps to have the ceremony approved by the Temple of Aaron synagogue, their dream of having their love recognized became a reality. It couldn’t have happened on a better date too, October 10th, 2010 – the same date as the 100 anniversary celebration of the synagogue.

A Jewish wedding is very symbolic and beautiful. For example, the ceremony takes place under a Chupah, a canopy on four poles. It symbolizes creating a home together which is always open to guests…

Bride-to-be: “Do you ever travel for weddings?

Me: “Yes!”

Bride-to-be: “What about the Twin Cities?”

Me: “Absolutely! Travel to the Twin Cities is included!”

I get asked that a lot by a number of brides & grooms when they search for their wedding photographer. Even though I may shoot a lot of weddings in and around Winona, MN & La Crosse, WI – I do travel to and around Minneapolis/St. Paul to provide my wedding photographer services.

Yes, I know that there is a large number of very talented wedding photographers in the Twin Cities, but just a reminder that I do travel to shoot there too!

Jill & Justin | Twin Cities wedding photography

For my last wedding of 2009, it was a full day of wedding coverage. From the salon in Woodbury, to a straight blade shave in downtown St. Paul, to the wedding in Buffalo and the reception in Maple Grove. Not to mention that it was a beautiful November day with temps in the mid-sixties. Wonderful friends & family to share the day with. Everything seemed to work out perfectly for Jill & Justin’s wedding.

I started at Salon Ultimo in Woodbury to get photos of Jill & her bridesmaids getting their hair & makeup. It is truly a process to see a woman become a bride on her wedding day. Such intricate little details. These details can take time. In all, it is all worthwhile for one of the biggest moments of one’s life.

Michaela & Tim wedding engagement photographer | downtown St. Paul, Minnesota

January 10th, 2009 – I was excited to get back out and shoot on Saturday, especially since I don’t shoot too much in the winter. But after last weekend’s wedding, it stirred up the urge to shoot some more. After a few emails with Michaela, we set a date, found a meeting place and crossed my fingers we didn’t have a blizzard or another ice storm! The sun was out, but you have to remember it is January…

…in Minnesota. It was around 15-20 degrees with a pretty chilly wind. It was cold.

Not your ideal weather & temperatures for outdoor pictures, but Michaela and Tim were troopers!! We had a great time! Holding each other close, they kept each other warm, like to people in love should do anyways. Spending that time together really showed me the love they have for each other. A lot can be said when you see a woman smile so much when she’s around her man. Michaela was constantly smiling. I could feel the love… what an awesome thing to see & feel.

We started right next to Landmark Center in St. Paul and went from there. The Seventh Place Mall area made for a great spot and backdrop, right next to Park Square Theatre
